Full Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Catania, he is the Founder and Director of the University Center of Excellence for the acceleration of Harm Reduction (CoEHAR), where 40 researchers with different expertise are actively involved in international clinical research. He is one of the most recognized and prolific tobacco harm reduction advocate, and designed and conducted dozens of research studies, working with smoking cessation specialists, clinical psychologists, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, chemists, toxicologists, and biologists from all over the world.

He is also the current President of the Italian Association of Diabetology (SID), which supports every year innovative research programs through grants and fellowships. He designed and conducted several research projects on diabetes, dyslipidemias, and chronic liver diseases. Within the CoEHAR, he is conducting a large mutinational study on smoking cessation and the reduction of cardiorespiratory risk factors in diabetic smokers.

She has been working at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine since 2013, where she acquired a great experience in the management of all the administrative, financial and communication aspects of several national and international projects on THR science. She has also experience in scientific research, especially on e-cigarettes regulation aspects. She is the coordinator of the ISPM.
Full Professor of Economics and Business Management at the University of Catania. President of the degree course in Business Economics, Rector Delegate for Technology Transfer, Start Up and Relations with SMEs, he is President of the University Spin Off Commission. His research interests concern the themes of entrepreneurship, corporate governance and the competitiveness of family businesses. He is co-editor of the Journal of Management and Governance. He is a journalist registered in the Order of Journalists of Sicily.
Governing Director of the University of Catania’s spin off ECLAT srl, he is also dentist and medical director of different clinics in Italy and Ireland. Experienced Governing Director and Member of Governing Board of other entities in the medical field, he is the Past President of the Italian Antismoking League (LIAF). He manages educational programmes on orthodontics and general dentistry, and will conduct a research project on the effects of smoking on dental health, in collaboration with the CoEHAR. He also collaborates with the UCMH (Cuba) Faculty of Dentistry.
Coordinator of the Area for Innovation and Technology Transfer at the University of Catania, he is an expert of business development and project coordination activities. Graduated in Economis, and qualified as Chartered Accountant and Auditor, he hold several professional positions in private companies as General and Marketing Manager, and in public entities as consultant for territorial development and sustainability.

PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health at Yale University’s School of Medicine, For over 20 years she has taught health program evaluation, chronic disease measurement issues and chronic disease epidemiology. She has served as President and founder of MATRIX Population Health Strategies, a health and human service focused social enterprise that has provided guidance to governments, industry, academia, NGOs and health care systems globally. She designed programs, conducted needs assessment and evaluation studies, as well as developed strategic plans for health departments and consortia nationally and internationally.
Intellectual property and innovation management specialist, and former director of the London-based consulting firm CX6. Following his legal studies at the University of Nottingham, he spent a major part of his career at various positions within the European Commission, where he currently serves as a legal adviser in the field of intellectual property governance, innovation ecosystems and R&D&I state aid. Over the last decade, he has contributed to numerous European Union policies and initiatives, including Horizon 2020, and led the creation of the European Commission’s Central IP Service. He will be participating in the ISPM in his personal capacity.
M.A. in European Politics and Administration (Bruges) and in Innovation and Knowledge Transfer (MIP, Milan), she is the Head of the International Research Office of the University of Catania. Member of the Managing Board of the Agency for the Promotion of European Research (APRE, Rome), she is also an independent evaluator for the European Union and lecturer on European projects’ design and management. Her expertise relates also to the following fields: international research programmes, mobility of researchers, organizational models to support international research projects.

After the Master’s degree in Geophysics and a Research Fellow in Vulcanology, he started designing and managing research projects for the volcanology research team of the University of Catania. Thanks to a decennial experience as CEO of some web companies, he developed strong IT and technological skills, becoming an expert consultant in R&I and project management. Today he’s project manager for the University of Catania’s spin off ECLAT and consultant for different Departments of the same University.
Researcher, university lecturer and professional trainer, writer, activist and editor in the fields straddling international development, security and criminal justice and the culture of consumption of habit-forming substances. Social Anthropologist by training, he got into the drugs field by accident some 20 years ago. Technical Advisor for the Global Drug Policy Observatory of the University of Swansea, he has had the opportunity of working with many organizations including NGOs like ISDD, DrugScope and Hibsicus, but also international agencies like the European Commission, the EMCDDA and UNODC in various capacities. He has been Team Leader,Director of Programmes and Project Evaluator in over 30 countries including Nigeria, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Jamaica.
Economist and business manager with a solid background in PR, Management, NGO fundraising, entrepreneurship, HACCP, foodstuffs production and retail, he is a currently a THR advocate, policy researcher and Harm Reduction entrepreneur. He works for global recognition and adoption of Tobacco Harm Reduction as a vital and crucial tool for better Public Health and argues that this strategy is clearly stipulated as mandatory in the FCTC. He hopes to bring thoughts regarding cost/benefit and health economics high on the Tobacco Control agenda. He is Board Member of INNCO, the largest International Network of Nicotine Consumer Organisations.
Born in Nigeria, and also a United States Citizen, who lived and worked in the United States for 13 years. She currently work as a Deputy Director at the ICT/Innovation Centre and Innovation Hub of The University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Enugu Campus. She is a Project Management Expert in the IT field. Trained on SAP Business Intelligence and SAP Financial Accounting and Controlling, Ogechi managed more than 10 IT projects in the last 5 years and acted as SAP Next Generation Coordinator, a purpose driven innovation university and community which drives innovation with purpose supporting SAP’s commitment to the 17 UN Global Goals for sustainable development.
Full professor of Computer Science at the University of Catania, he is currently the Scientific Coordinator of the PhD Program in Computer Science at the University of Catania. He is involved in research and directorship of the IPLab research lab. He coordinates the lab participation on large scale projects funded by national and international funding bodies, as well as by private companies. He has participated as principal investigator in many international and national research projects on Computer Vision, Imaging technology and Multimedia Forensics. He is also Director (and Co-Founder) of the International Computer Vision Summer School (ICVSS), Sicily, Italy.
Lorenzo grew up mixing passion for computer technology and sport. After a Master degree in Computer Science at the University of Catania and a career as semi-professional basket player, he still educates young people to discipline and team principles. Given his mindset for team building and problem solving, no surprise that Lorenzo has become an agile coach and a project leader. He spent more than fifteen years in ICT spanning over multiple domains and companies, including a few Fortune 500 companies. Thanks to his technical background and soft skills, he covered various roles (including sales and development) before finding his place in project management being one of the major actors in the agile and DevOps transition of entire companies. Today, Lorenzo serves as Scrum Master helping development teams to achieve and communicate their goals and results.
